Designed by Dwight James Baum in 1925, the 3-story, Mediterranean-style Belle Haven (originally the El Verona Apartments) enjoyed waterfront views of Sarasota Bay. In the last several decades, tall condominiums, built on filled land, blocked its bayfront views; and the building fell into disrepair. In 2020, the lobby, stair towers, light court, and original exterior metal work were all repaired; and the windows, doors, and roofing were replaced to match the original. The restored Belle Haven is now the landmark centerpiece of the quickly developing Quay project.
