Hoyt Architects returned the historic 1938 Municipal Auditorium to the original Art Deco Moderne design in a multi-phased, multi-year restoration project, which was funded by The City of Sarasota with grant assistance from the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Historic Resources.
The Exterior scope of work included a new copper roof, installation of like-original glass block and complete restoration of the building’s exterior, including a new building entrance and restoration of existing steel casement windows.
Upon completion of the building restoration, the Hazzard Fountain, which was moved to make way for the widening of Tamiami Trail, was returned and placed on-axis with its original location, and completed by the City of Sarasota.
