Patriot Plaza at the Sarasota, Florida National Cemetery serves as a “first of its kind” public-private partnership model and inspiration for communities across the country. For the first time in U.S. history, a private philanthropy partnered with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to develop a symbolic amphitheater plaza space filled with military representations. Key features include over $2 million in commissioned artwork, a rostrum that is large enough to accommodate a 55-piece orchestra, and a covered amphitheater seating area for up to 2,800 people. Patriot Plaza presents a heartfelt display of patriotism that recognizes the service and selfless sacrifice of the U.S. Armed Forces.
