Woodmere Park

Woodmere Park is a park dominated by a hardwood swamp and County drainage creeks. Extensive studies were undertaken to minimize the impact of active recreational uses while preserving the natural environment. A strongly linear organization of activities including tennis courts, basketball, shuffleboard and playgrounds provide a pedestrian spine linking all facilities with the recreation center buildings. A horseshoe shaped space defines a special events plaza connecting separate building pods. A gymnasium with portable seating, stage, kitchen and chair and table storage provides a large multi-purpose space. Craft rooms, dressing space and offices are also included in the 11,000 square foot complex.
